Project Title: "Sparkling in the Darkness" (נוצץ בחשיכה)
Song By: Yehuda Poliker
Category: Animation / Motion Graphics / Commemoration
Role: Animation Director
Software: Fresco, After Effects
Project Overview:
An animated music video for Yehuda Poliker’s song "Sparkling in the Darkness," created in memory of Aviv Kutz and his family, who were tragically murdered in the October 7th massacre. Aviv was a cornerstone of his community, a man of light and giving. He was also a passionate photographer, specifically drawn to the night stars and the desert landscape. This project is a visual tribute to his life, his art, and his family.
The Creative Challenge:
The challenge was to weave a narrative of profound loss while simultaneously celebrating the light Aviv brought to the world. I aimed to create a visual language that honors the tragedy without being defined solely by it-focusing instead on Aviv’s unique perspective as a photographer.
Concept & Execution:
The animation is entirely based on Aviv’s original photography.
The Process:
I took his static desert and star-scape photographs and breathed life into them through motion, creating a bridge between the frozen moment of a photograph and the eternal movement of memory.
Visual Metaphor:
By animating the stars and the play of light in the desert, the video serves as a literal and metaphorical representation of the song’s title—finding the "sparkle" that persists even in the deepest darkness.
